With summer winding down and the fall travel season beginning to see the changing leaves and beautiful scenery that fall offers, it is nice to know that more and more hotels are becoming pet friendly. It is also rewarding to know that pets are being catered to in many hotels these days. There are many unique places that are offering a host of activities and vacation treats for you and your furry friend. As with any other special interests at a hotel, call ahead and check out rates and policies.
Loews Regency Hotel in New York, NY believes that all dogs are VIP’s. At this hotel, you and your pet will be treated like royalty from the moment you enter the doors. Upon arriving here, you will receive dog treats, treats, and a brochure that explains all of the pet services available for your furry friend around the hotel. This hotel even offers room service for both you and your pet. There are food and water bowls and place-mats available in the rooms for the dogs.
Stanford Inn By The Sea in Medocino, California is another great hotel for pet owners. This hotel is on 10 acres overlooking the Mendocino Bay. Dogs are just across the bridge from a pet friendly beach, which adds to the grandeur of this hotel. The greeting staff at this hotel is much different than that of some hotels. The staff consists of Murphy, a black Lab retriever and Gypsy, a German Shepherd mix. These two greeters are more than happy to show each new guest and their pet to a room which is furnished with a welcome treat, food and water bowls, dog blankets, and toys for all returning guests. This is one of the best hotels that I have learned of yet, if you are traveling in that area of the US with your dog.
If you happen to travel to the Florida Keys area, you should check into the White Gate Court, a resort which takes pet friendly to an entire new level. This hotel does not require you to have a leash and they welcome the pets with open arms, literally. All dogs will get a welcoming belly rub and hug from a staff member upon arrival. Your pet will also receive towels for the beach and blankets for use on the private beach that the resort offers.
Hotel Teatro is another wonderful pet friendly hotel located in Denver, Colorado. Many celebrities have visited this hotel with their pets. Each pet is offered a basket of toys when they arrive and each room offers bone shaped food and water bowls, water on ice, and treats. Your pet will even leave with a souvenir dog tag as a special reminder of being in this hotel. The hotel offers dog massages as well for the pampering of your pet. This is a five star hotel for pets.
The Kimpton’s Hotel Monaco in Portland, Oregon is another unique hotel for pets. Being that Portland is one of the most pet-friendly cities in the United states it is fitting that they have a special hotel for pets as well. Penny, a Labrador Retriever is the director of pet services and she welcomes each guest. The pet owner will receive a copy of Dog Lover’s Companion to the Pacific Northwest book that can be used in room with a map that contains the many pet-friendly attractions located in this area. There are micro-breweries, restaurants, and hiking trails throughout the city that you can visit with your pet.
These are five of the most special pet-friendly hotels and resorts throughout the country, but there are many more that will welcome you and your pet. There are many hotel chains now that offer travelers with pets rooms for a small fee as well. These are the following chains that I know of that are pet-friendly.
Pet-Friendly Hotel Chains
La Quinta Inns/Suites
Holiday Inn-Hotel Indigo
Comfort Inn-Quality Inn
Hilton Hotel-Hampton Inn
Motel 6-Studio 6
No matter where you are traveling or what you are wanting to do with your pet, there is a hotel somewhere that is perfect for you and your furry friend.
