The Galapagos Art Space in DUMBO has teamed up with the International Exchange and Studio Program of the Canton of Basel, Switzerland.
The exchange program will afford a local artist the opportunity to live in the Swiss countryside for six months.
The well financed residency program will put up the selected artist in an old estate building in the Berowergut next to the renovated Beyeler Foundation.
The Swiss digs include 700 square feet of work space, an allowance of $1,200 per month to help cover expenses, half off all public transportation, and plenty of Swiss chocolate!
The residency runs from the first of the year through the end of June. They are accepting applications from artists in any arts discipline, just so long as they are a New Yorker (or could make a strong argument for their involvement in the New York art scene).
