After having the traditional Thanksgiving side dishes, you may be looking for something different to make for Christmas. I have found a short list of German Christmas dinner side dish recipes. There is a soup, red cabbage dish, and two styles of dumplings.
While those may not sound like a side dish you would serve at Christmas time, these side dishes have been served at German Christmas dinners. Why shouldn’t we try other country’s side dishes for Christmas?
I have made a nontraditional Christmas dinner several times because we didn’t want to have turkey or ham again just a month after eating it the first time. My husband mentioned just yesterday about having a turkey and dumpling dish. I will give one of the two German dumpling side dishes a shot while making turkey and dumplings.
This way we can see how they taste. I can also see how easy or hard they are to make since I have never made dumplings before. This way when Christmas comes, I can decide to use the dumpling recipe again for our dinner.
If you have never made any of these side dishes like me, you can test them out between now and Christmas to see if your family and yourself like them or not. This way you can try something new for dinner a few nights.
