Always make sure your vehicle has plenty of gas. Maintain a winter survival kit in your vehicle.
In the event you do not arrive on time, law enforcement officials will know where to search for you and your vehicle.
Be aware of your location in the event you need to summon help or call 911.
Plan ahead and select your route before you leave home or business.
Give yourself plenty of travel time. If the storm becomes too much for you, please take refuge immediately.

A road trip in the winter without the proper planning and supplies could turn into a disaster. Make sure you pack enough food and water for yourself or at least for 2 people for a week worth of goods.
In case you do get stranded, you will have the supplies needed for winter survival, and you just have to act on it. Have some cash on you at any time.
Here’s a basic winter off road kit to get you started. You can add items to the list as needed.
Off Road Winter Survival Kit should contain – Cell phone’s rechargeable cord. – extra food – chocolate, snack bars are good also. – extra water (at least one gallon per person ) – first aid kit, blankets, sleeping bag, extra layers of warm clothing, gloves, mirror to signal if necessary, whistle, weather radio, emergency road flares, glow sticks, candles, sunblock, lip balm, sunglasses to protect your eyes, flashlight and batteries, matches in a waterproof container, fire starter, firewood, nylon cord, tarp, camp saw, duct tape, tire chains, tow strap, shovel, electric winch (on at least one vehicle in the group), winching accessories, v echicle repair kit, snow boots, ice scraper, additional medical supplies if you take some medication daily, pack extra. Stock with a bag or two of rock salt in the trunk and a sand bag.
