It’s worth considering that Clinton Hill is not the Upper West Side. Many Brooklynites have made the commute across the river, not because they were forced to, but because they wanted the wide open sky which Brooklyn is known for. Brooklyn residents get enough of tall buildings during the week, when they come to work in Manhattan, if they indeed still work in Manhattan.
So the recent announcement that the tallest residential tower in Clinton Hill, 163 Washington Avenue, is getting ready to open its sales offices for business is worth noting. This leaves many locals wondering who will occupy these towers.
These towers will fill up quickly as they are priced to sell. Ranging in size from 440 square foot studios to 1,156 square foot two bedrooms, the properties at 163 Washington Avenue are FHA approved. This means that buyers can put as little as 3.5% down. Units here are also approved for 421-a tax abatement.
Still residents are wondering who will come to Clinton Hill? Will it be yuppie New Yorkers who just want to escape across the river? Off-site landlords? International investors?
Clinton Hill residents will be taking notice, for sure.
