The group is concerned that if Finn finds out he’ll flip and they’ll have no real chance at sectionals.
Emma tells Schuester she’s willing to push her wedding back a few hours and wants to take the kids to sectionals. Ken is upset with her decision but Emma goes through with it anyways. Schuester is incredibly happy and relieved that Emma is willing to take the Glee club to sectionals.
Rachel approaches Quinn asking her if she’s had a full genetic panel ran on her baby because someone she knows was a carrier for tay-sachs disease. Quinn tells her that her doctor never mentioned it and Rachel assures her that it’s fine because it’s really only a disease to worry about if one of the parents is Jewish.
At the beginning of the next Glee practice, Quinn tells Puck that he has to take her to get one of those genetic tests since he’s Jewish. She’s concerned that since Puck is Jewish the baby might have something and that Terri won’t take the baby if something is wrong with it. Schuester announces that Emma will be taking th Glee club to sectionals and bids them farewell. Rachel gets up volunteering to do a ballad, but Mercedes is upset with this and insists on being able to try. Mercedes puts on an intense and heartfelt perfomance that impresses the entire club and earns a standing ovation. Rachel steps down and tells Mercedes the ballad is hers.
Finn is impressed with Rachel handing the ballad to Mercedes. He tells her that he’s looking forward t sectionals. Rachel tells Finn she needs to tell him something important.
Finn is shown beating Puck up in the choir room. Schuester intevenes in the fight and Finn demands to know if it’s true. Quinn steps forward and tearfully admits that Puck is the father. Finn is hurt and upset that he was lied to and tells Quinn he’s done with her and done with Glee club.
Rachel approached Quinn in the hallway and apologizes. Rachel tells her that she can beat her up, but Quinn tells her she’s not mad, and that Rachel did something that she wasn’t brave enough to do; tell the truth. Rachel feels bad because she told Finn out of selfish motives. Quinn is feeling horrible about the people she has hurt. Rachel leaves and Puck approaches Quinn and tells her that he wants to be with her and that he wants to do everything he can to be a good dad. Quinn thanks him but tells him she can’t handle any more stress in her life and that she’s going to do it on her own.
Jacob, the school’s newspaper reporter, joins the group since Finn bailed out in the heat of the moment with everything that happened with Quinn. Schuester thanks Emma for taking the kids to regionals and bus leaves.
At sectionals, the group is dismayed to find they have been drawn to go last out of all three groups. The group, while watching the other kids perform, is upset to find out that the groups are all singing the same songs, uncluding the use of wheelchairs during one of the numbers. It becomes obvious that the set list was leaked to the other groups performing. Emma calls Schuester telling him what’s happening. Schuester gets off the phone and accuses Sue as she walks by that she sold out the group. Sue dosen’t care what Schuester thinks, and is happy that this could mean the end of Glee club. Schuester swears to expose her as the fraud she is.
Schuester approaches Finn in the locker room as he’s cleaning out his locker. Schuester tells Finn what’s happening with the Glee club’s competition. He tells Finn that he dosen’t think that the club can win without Finn. Finn dosen’t want to go because he can’t even bear to look at Quinn or puck without crying and being filled with rage. Schuester leaves his keys on the bench and Finn tells him he forgot his keys, and Schuester simply says “No, I didn’t.” And continues leaving.
Emma confronts the other two groups leaders and tells them she’s disappointed in them for stealing the set list from the Glee club kids. Emma tells them that they are encouraging lying and cheating.
Rachel calls a meeting in the green room and the two cheerleaders are accused of leaking the set list. The cheerleaders deny it and tell the group they like Glee club and wouldn’t do that. Rachel tells her that she believes her. The group decides they need to come up with new numbers. Rachel asks Mercedes if she has another ballad she could sing, and Mercedes tells her the ballad is hers. The group is stuck on a third song for them all to sing along. Finn shows up with sheet music for another song and helps take care of it and gives the group an inspirational pep talk. Puck asks Finn if they’re cool and Finn tells him “No” and ignored Quinn when she tries to talk to him.
The group goes on stage, first with their ballad “Nobody’s Gonna Rain on My Parade” performed by Rachel, coming in from the back of the auditorium and down the aisle. She gives a great performance leaving the crowd stunned, as the rest of the group walks down the aisles to join her on stage in black with red ties and sashes.
The group sings their second song, “You Can’t Always Get what You Want” with Finn singing male lead, with a very deep, masculine and sultry voice making the song that much better. Rachel joined him with the female lead, making the song a hit. The crowd stands up and dances along during the performance and gives a standing ovation.
The judges in the back room are discussing the the performances so far and all seem very unsure of which way to go as far as voting. The Glee club is standing outside the door of the judge’s room and it dosen’t sound promising through the door.
Schuester, back at home, is surprised to see Terri since she’s supposed to work on Saturday. Schuester is getting ready for Ken and Emma’s wedding. Terri tells him that she’s seeing a therapist. He tells her that he hopes it works out for her and Terri begins pleading with him again. Schuester tells her he dosen’t have the feelings for her that he used to; he’s trying but they just aren’t there anymore.
Ken arrives at Ken and Emma’s wedding to see Emma sitting alone at the table in the reception hall. Emma tells Schuester that Ken dumped her and that moving the wedding was the last straw. Schuester feels terrible for Emma and apologizes. Emma tells him its not his fault. Emma tells him she put in her resignation at the school because she can’t see Ken without feeling ashamed, and she can’t see Schuester without feeling heartbroken.
In the principal’s office, Sue is confronted with Schuester present, about having given the two competing Glee clubs the set list. Sue denies it but the principal tells her it was on her letterhead and in her handwriting. Sue dosen’t seem to be taking the principal seriously and the principal revokes her coach position from her. Sue is outraged but the principal refuses to hear her pleas and suspends her from the school. After Sue leaves the principal tells Schuester he is reinstated as head of the Glee club and that the record has been set straight with the board.
Sue approaches Schuester in the hallway. Sue is angry and tells him that he’s in for hellbent revenge from her and to be “prepared to be crushed.”
At his first Glee club practice after being restored to leader of Glee club, the group shows him the trophy they won. The kids are excited and quite visibly proud. Schuester then tells them that now they have regionals to prepare for. The kids tell Schuester to sit down, since he wasn’t there to see them perform, they put together a special number just for him set to “Cause we Belong.”
Schuester sees Emma leaving with her box of things and stops her, places her box on the floor and finally kisses her.
