Last year, Glee took U.S. audiences by storm. With its fun song-and-dance numbers, heartrending storylines and clever sense of humor, the show won over millions of viewers and is now one of the top-rated shows on prime time television.
We’re a few episodes in and already we’ve met four new characters: Shannon Bieste, the football coach with a sensitive side; Sam Evans, a former Californian with his sights set on Quinn Fabray; Sunshine Corazon, a vocal powerhouse quickly swiped up by Vocal Adrenaline, and Dr. Carl Howell, Emma’s dentist-turned-beau whose mere presence irks Mr. Schue.
Word on the street is it won’t stop there. Darren Criss is set to make his debut as McKinley’s other gay student in an upcoming episode, and Gwenyth Paltrow will cover Cee Lo Green’s “F*** You” this week when she steps in as a substitute teacher.
Another big spoiler hints that a big Christmas episode may be in the works, one that pits Sue Sylvester as the age-old Christmas-ruiner Grinch. Apparently, Jane Lynch is even cued up to sing the Grinch theme song – you know, the one with the “39 and a half foot pole” line in it?
In other Sue news, it sounds like Principal Figgins is on the outs and our beloved cranky coach is going to step in, at least temporarily. I see bad things ahead for Mr. Schuester and his New Directions bunch. I wonder if this could be what spurs a main character’s sudden departure from the school? Rumor has it, a series regular is about to leave McKinley High, and it’s not by expulsion (i.e., Puck.) It sounds like it’s a voluntary transfer; are they leaving to join Vocal Adrenaline? To escape teasing? Who knows.
Tune in Tuesday nights to Fox to see it all unfold.
