Lily took Serena to the Columbia University dean’s office for a dressing down of her behavior with Colin. The dean tried to make Serena withdraw but mama bear Lily told the dean off. Basically Lily said that Serena was taken advantage of by the older professor and that if Serena withdrew it would look like it was her fault when it was really the older professor’s fault. Score 1 for Lily.
Back at the UES penthouse Serena was promising once again that she learned her lesson and would be more upstanding. However Jenny was there and she planted a seed of doubt into Lily about Juliet.
At Juliet’s 125th street apartment Jenny, Vanessa and Juliet were out for revenge. Jenny had stolen Serena’s phone SIM card, so they would be able to see all Serena’s texts and calls but Serena wouldn’t. Then Jenny told Juliet about what she told Lily and how that was part of their scheme. The big takedown would happen at Chuck’s Black & White masked ball at the Empire Hotel. Juliet met with Lily and Lily gave her money not to tell anyone about Serena’s affair with a teacher at her boarding school; which happened to be the real reason Serena had left way back in Season 1 Episode 1.
Meanwhile, Chuck and Blair were the worst kept secret. Blair wanted to be the face of Nate Archibald’s mom’s charity and she told Blair that being associated with Chuck was bad for her image. Over at the Empire, Chuck’s hotel associate told him that he needed to be decadent again in order to get bookings at the hotel.
Dan and Nate joined together to fight for Serena. Vanessa got them both back together for their takedown plan. So basically Dan and Nate decided to both text Serena with their plans for fun dates, and whoever Serena responded to won. But her text was sent to the phone Jenny and Vanessa had and they responded back to both dates with yeses. So both boys showed up to wait for her but when Serena never showed up they both went to her apartment building. Serena showed up outside too and wondered what they both were doing there.
At the ball, both Juliet and Jenny dressed up in the same outfit and mask as Serena. Juliet kissed both Nate and Dan and confused both of them again. Then Jenny as Serena took down the curtains to reveal that Chuck and Blair were still together. Then the real Serena showed up and the Gossip Girl blast showed that she kissed both boys. They were fed up with her and left. Then Blair confronted Serena and told Serena that she tried to usurp Blair once again by exposing her with Chuck because Serena herself wanted to be the face of the Archibald charity. It turned out that Chuck’s party upped the bookings so his exposure of being with Blair didn’t affect his brand. But Blair wanted to be known as Hillary without Bill but with better hair. HA. So Blair had to break free from Chuck to make her own mark without being known as only Chuck’s girlfriend. This was a great scene between them; there was so much tension and chemistry and sadness.
Juliet changed Serena’s mask at the party and the mask made her woozy. Serena wobbled out of the party and Juliet assisted her into a cab. But apparently this wasn’t part of the Brooklyn plan because when Vanessa called Juliet to see how it went, Juliet ignored the call. Juliet then sent a text to the dean announcing her official withdrawal from Columbia University.
There was a small appearance by Rufus, Eric and his boyfriend. Rufus looked concerned about Lily and Serena. Eric and BF mapped out Serena’s love life in colored pencils and probability graphs and went shopping with her. But really these scenes were unnecessary.
Next episode: All about Serena and she kisses Dan. The next new episode won’t air until November 29.
