I always loved the original movie “Grease” with John Travolta and Olivia Newton- John in the lead roles, but we now have a video game based on that movie which, I’m sad to say, doesn’t quite stack up to the mega- hit of the same name. Grease: The Game video game, published by 505 Games, and developed by Big Ape Productions for the DS and Wii gaming platforms, was just released on August 24, 2010. Although it is rated ‘E10″ for players ten years old and up, this music genre game isn’t exactly the best one of its type, to put it mildly. This music- and- dance simulation game has players follow along to on- screen cues to perform dance routines from the musical ‘Grease”. Players use an avatar to do the steps, as song lyrics scroll across the screen. My assessment can be summed up in this phrase: Get thee to a choreographer! my good man….
The graphics leave a lot to be desired, and although I found it a bit more likeable than others, maybe my love for music could bias me in this case. But, in any case, as my friends over at GameTrailers have given this a dismal score of only 1.8, yet, I just want to leave you open to see for yourself how you may or may not agree with those players. I personally, only because their score is so LOW, and of course, I like music/ dance type formats, would give it an average look at best. But thats just me, who’s also a big sports nut, as well. So, if you want to check it out, or not, at least you have the low-down, and the heads- up from me on Grease: The Game.
