Stockings are the small but traditional part of Christmas that bring the whole family together for a few moments to ooh and ahh over what they got in their giant, decorative socks. So if you do stockings in your household, make the stockings truly awesome by getting great stocking stuffers. Here is a list of awesome stocking stuffer ideas that don’t break the bank and come in pretty handy!
We always get toothbrushes. Every year, and believe it or not, we love getting them. We look forward to it. We also get an orange too, which doesn’t go over so well, so I would forgo the fruit but at least get the toothbrush in there.
Batteries are great stocking stuffers, especially if one stocking has them and another does not. This means there is a gift that requires batteries in there somewhere and it increases the excitement on what it could possibly be. Rather than tape the batteries to the present itself, put the batteries in the stocking.
Fingernail polish, toy cars, stickers, and small scented candles (you can get all of this stuff at the dollar store) are great stocking stuffers as well.
Gift cards in small amounts, like $15 to Wal-Mart, are well received, and so is a $5 bill hiding in with the candy. A fun surprise.
If you have a large gift, hide it somewhere else in the house and place a clue in the stocking on a piece of paper to keep the kids guessing all morning long.
A deck of cards or a handheld game, keychain, or a decorative notepad or locker mirror make handy and appreciated stocking stuffers.
For smaller children, tiny stuffed animals and costume jewelry or action figurines go over real well, as do crackers and cheese and yummy snacks besides candy.
You can do so many things to improve the basics of a stocking. It doesn’t just have to be candy and treats, you can also fill them with trinkets and small gifts that your kids are sure to enjoy.
