When it is too wet outside and you need to occupy the kids these rainy day games might just be the ticket to fun. You don’t need a lot of creativity, only a few household items and some bored kids!
Indoor Obstacle Course
Use Pillows, blankets, pot, pans and whatever else you can find to make an obstacle course in your living room (or whatever space you have available). Offer kids the opportunity to be timed as they complete the course and race against their friends. You might have to move some furniture to make more space or to make things safe.
Give the kids a list of items from around the house and a clue on how to find them and send them on their way. This game is easy to play with kids and they love the challenge!
This is not just for the car. You can sit in your own living room and play a game of I Spy with your kids. You can make the game harder or easier depending on the ages of the children you have playing.
It is a classic game but fun for all ages. It doesn’t matter if you have a theme (movies, famous people, sports) or you let the kids pick what they act out. They will love the challenge of figuring out what the other is acting out.
You can make your own game of Pictionary with a timer, some paper and a pencil. Write out a few words for the kids to draw and you are set! You might even want to keep a few of those creative pictures for the fridge.
Rainy days don’t have to be boring and uneventful. Bring the kids together for some good old fashioned fun. Put out some snacks and let the fun begin! Who knows you might even inspire them to have a family game night on a day it is not raining!
