When you’re looking for another way to go green around your home, consider your lighting. Most of us know that lighting uses a great deal of electricity but that there are now many ways to reduce this. Switching your lighting to LED lights will be an excellent way to go green in your home, apartment or office space and it will also save you money over time.
While LED lights are becoming more and more affordable, they are on average, still a bit more expensive than the incandescent or halogen bulb. However, this slight increase in price upfront pays for itself time and time again as you have the LED lights over time. This is because you will replace them less often and they use less energy consumption on a monthly basis so your bills will be cheaper.
If you have not yet thought about using LED lighting inside your home, then you may be surprised to learn that nearly any type of light or light fixture that you have in your home can be replaced with LED bulbs. This means you do not have to sacrifice quality or aesthetics in order to have more eco friendly lighting in your home.
LED lights also work for both indoor and outdoor lighting so you can literally replace everything in the house with LED bulbs instead. While halogen bulbs were a decent alternative to the incandescent bulb, there are also faults with this. They are not as efficient on heat.
But the LED, or light-emitting diode, works differently that both of the other types of bulbs. It has the features that you like the most from incandescent bulbs and halogen bulbs combined but it is done in a different way so as not to have the same cons. LEDs produce a “cool” light that does not waste electricity, can burn for years and years without being changed and still provides you with a quality light source.
The great part about LED lights is that you can buy the bulbs to replace any type of light that you have already. So you can put them in chandeliers, wall mounted lights, ceiling fan lights, outdoor lights and so much more. You can use them in every room of your home, not have to change them for years and constantly benefit from a more eco-friendly version of the lights that you love already.
