There are two major activities that you can actively participate in while playing the Facebook game Mafia Wars: performing jobs and fighting. The majority of players focus on energy and jobs, generally ignoring fighting. And, if you are primarily interested in gaining levels and exploring game content, this is the optimal decision. But, if you prefer greater interactivity with other players, fighting is the optimal decision. The game rewards fighting in many ways, including with a set of 19 achievements that can only be earned by fighting. Whether you are focused on fighting, balance your game play between fighting and jobs, or only fight occasionally, this guide will help you earn the achievements that can only be gained by fighting.
Napoleon Complex – If you focus on fighting this is a relatively easy achievement to get. Most players completely ignore all of their attributes other than energy. Keep putting points into your attack attribute and keep collecting good equipment. Once you have a powerful offense, attack someone who only has one or two mafia members more than you. Eventually, you will get lucky and defeat one of them. If you aren’t focused on fighting, it is essential you get this at an early level. At early levels you might get lucky and find someone with terrible equipment and no defense boosts at all. Keep trying opponents with only a few mafia members more than you until you get lucky. If you really can’t pull it off, buy a good attack boost and ask a friend to gift you one.
Unstoppable / Brawler – Both of these achievements are earned by defeating multiple opponents in a row without suffering an offensive loss. The first achievement requires 15 wins and the second requires 100 wins. Dedicated fighters will be able to do this easily. Dilettante fighters will have a harder time gaining these achievements. Either way, you should only fight opponents that have significantly fewer mafia members than you, preferably about half as many. With that large a disparity in mafia size, you are basically assured a win.
Bulletproof – This is one of the hardest achievements in the game to earn. The only real chance you have to earn it is to be at least level 1000, have over 2000 health, have a mafia size of 501 members, and have a defense score that is over 3000. Once you have incredibly good attributes, you will need to have a spare hour where you do nothing but focus on the game. Get a friend to put you on the hit list, preferably sometime in the wee hours of the morning. While on the hit list you will be attacked, a lot. Every minute you need to go to the hospital and heal yourself completely. If you are lucky, nobody will ever do enough damage to kill you before the minute is up and you can heal again. If you manage not to die for 60 minutes, you will earn this achievement.
The Best Offense… – This achievement is primarily earned by being lucky and having a high defense score. You need to get attacked by another player and win 6 times in a row to earn this achievement. If you have bad defense attributes, try to convince a friend with a lower level character to attack you six times in a row. You should easily win if the friend is low enough level. If you don’t have a friend who can lose to you, you might need to create a new Facebook account and make a second Mafia Wars character to attack you while only first level.
Hitman / Bounty Hunter – No matter how good or bad a fighter you are, these achievements are actually quite easy to earn. To earn these achievements you need to kill one opponent on the hit list and 50 opponents on the hit list, respectively. Killing an opponent on the hit list will earn you a bounty. You don’t need to a win a fight to kill an opponent, just deal enough damage to knock your opponent to 0 health points. Even when you lose a fight you deal damage. Simply attacking an enemy on the hit list will eventually net you a bounty. You may have to spend a lot of money healing, but eventually you will get lucky and get both achievements.
Set Them Up for Later – This is probably the easiest achievement in the game to earn. To earn this achievement you simply need to lose 10 fights in a row. If you aren’t particularly good at fighting, simply attack someone who has a lot more mafia members than you. If you are good at fighting, go to the hit list and click on the names of opponents. Eventually one of the names will be about 1000 or more levels higher than you. Attack that opponent and keep attacking until you lose 10 times in a row.
First Blood – To earn this achievement, you need to declare and win a war. You can only declare a war if you have at least 6 friends in you mafia. Once you have 6 friends you can declare a war against anyone. You will then send out a request asking your friends to help you in the war. You will also be able to attack your opponent exactly once. If you have a lot of helpful friends, you will win easily. If you don’t, then try to find an opponent who is no longer playing the game. By pure chance you should win a war if you declare enough. If that doesn’t work then you can create a second account using a second Facebook account and declare war on that account.
Veteran – This achievement requires no fighting skill at all. In order to gain this achievement you simply need to participate in 500 wars. If you have lots of friends that declare wars, simply participate as often as possible and declare your own as well. If you don’t have a lot of friends declaring wars, then declare a war as often as you can. Eventually you will declare 500 wars and earn this achievement.
Ice to Meet You / Everybody Chill / Ice, Ice, Baby / Kick Some Ice – These four achievements require that you ice opponents in fights. You ice an opponent when you deal enough damage to reduce the opponent to fewer than 20 health points without killing the opponent. If you are skilled at fighting and fight constantly, you simply need to continue fighting the same opponent until they are eventually iced. The power attack option will speed this up. Once you ice an opponent, switch opponents and continue fighting. If you aren’t particularly skilled in fighting, you have two options. First, you can only fight opponents with much smaller mafias than you. You should win these fights and eventually ice your opponents. Alternately, you can attack and lose and then continue attacking. Go to the hospital as needed. Even losing fights you will deal damage and eventually ice your opponents. You need to ice 20, 100, 500, and 1000 opponents respectively to earn these achievements.
Master Slayer / Master Killer / Master Executioner / Master Assassin – In order to earn these achievements, you need to earn level 12, level 15, level 18, and level 21 Fight Mastery, respectively. Once you have earned these levels of Fight Mastery, you need to spend Victory Points to buy the achievement. You earn both Fight Mastery and Victory Points by winning fights. As usual, the trick to winning fights consistently is attacking someone with a smaller mafia than you. Obtaining these achievements requires a lot of patience and a high stamina reservoir. By the time you reach the various mastery levels you will have enough Victory Points to purchase the achievements if you haven’t spent the points on anything else.
Warlord – To earn this achievement you need to collect all 16 of the war rewards. The war rewards are loot items you earn when you win a war or aid the winning side in a war. These loot items can also be earned in other ways, but you only get credit towards this achievement if you earn the item from a war. Like the other war achievements, the simplest way to get this achievement is to declare a lot of rewards. Eventually you will get lucky. And, if luck is really against you, you can use a second account to assure victory.
