Many people live in Santa Clarita because it is family friendly. Every holiday, there are many fun-filled activities that are family oriented. Here are some activities that families can take part in during Halloween in Santa Clarita.
Lombardi Ranch 2nd Annual Monster Dash
This Halloween, get in some exercise by taking part in the 2nd annual Monster Dash. This race is a 5K and there is also a kids 1K race. The Monster Dash takes place at Lombardi Ranch. This fun race takes racers up Dead Man’s Hill, through the pumpkin patch, corn mazes and Scarecrow alley. You can even run in a costume. The 5K race begins at 8:00 am while the Kids K commences at 7:45 am. Runners in the 5K will get a nice shirt. Kid K participants will receive a medal. Register at Active.com or visit SCRunners.org. After the race, hang out at Lombardi Ranch. The ranch opens at 9:00 am. Along with tons of pumpkins, there are pony rides, plenty of places to play and a petting zoo. Haunted Jailhouse and Halloween Carnival SCV Sheriff Station
This popular annual event is hosted by the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station. This event features a moon bounce, game booths, food and costume contests by age. In previous years, there has been an “under six”-jailhouse tour. Typically, this event is free but requests a $1.00 donation. Many non-profit organizations are involved in making this safe yet fun family carnival. Go to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station Sunday, October 31, 2010 from 11:00am to 4:00 p.m to take part in the fun. Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest
If you are ready to be amazed then head out to the Santa Clarita Sports Complex Aquatic Center on Saturday, October 23rd at 6:00 p.m. Pumpkin carvers in SCUBA great will compete in making jack-o-lanterns. Magic Mountain Fright Fest
Magic Mountain will be totally transformed into a Halloween theme park, Friday – Sunday, October 2 – 31. While there are many scary mazes and activities, you will need to use your discretion and for young children, this is probably not the best event. If you have older, thrill seeking children, they may enjoy some of the roller coasters in the dark. In past years, there have been special events for kids like “scaryoke,” crafts, trick-or-treating and costume contest. There is also Bugs Bunny World for kids. There are many tickets deals but general admission is usually $59.99 and kids under 48″ are $34.99.
