The world was in shock and horror when a gunman terrorized the Discovery Channel offices in Silver Springs, Maryland September 1, 2010. James Jae Lee took hostages and eventually was gunned down by police. His manifesto revealed the mind of a man wanting something from the family friendly network.
His demands were a 12 step approach regarding social and economic views. His “thoughts” spanned the range of issues such as unemployment, global warming, food production, population restrictions, and a end to war.
This situation serves as a reminder of the ills of the world and the lengths someone will go to give their point of view.
Another terrorizing situation has arisen in Baltimore, Maryland. This time the attack is at one of the world’s most renowned medical facilities, Johns Hopkins hospital.
According to witnesses, a lone gunman went into the Nelson Building, one of the hospital’s buildings, and gun shots were heard. At this point, Baltimore police and Johns Hopkins Security guards began the process of locking down the entire hospital.
Once the lockdown was underway, the hospital had restricted access to their main buildings.
Police released information that a doctor had been shot. The doctor had not been named as of this time. The only information is the doctor is a faculty physician.
According to earlier reports from the Baltimore police, the gunman has been “subdued and disarmed”. There isn’t a motive or is it known if there is a link between the wounded doctor and the shooter. Follow up reports were incorrect regarding the capture of the unnamed gunman.
The latest news has criminal profiler Pat Brown stating the situation is better than most. She does not think the shooter is a mass murder. Employees at Johns Hopkins hospital are reported to scared and confused with the events.
The shooter has now been identified as an African American male in his 30’s. The Baltimore police have now rereleased the situation is contained and they are attempting to gain control of the suspect.
