Black birds, such as crows and ravens, are commonly associated with bad luck. This makes them ideal images to use with Halloween themed crafts. When throwing a Halloween party, themed invitations are fun to create for each of your guests. The black bird invitation tutorial below is perfect for people who are beginner crafters and those who are advanced. It’s an easy craft, but the simplicity of the black feather really exudes the feel of Halloween.
Glue Sticks (for glue gun)
Black Craft Feathers
Paper Cutter or Scissors
*When choosing the color card stock that you would like to use for your Halloween invitations, go with a color that has a nice contrast to black; such as orange, yellow, gold or cream.
Step One – Fold each piece of card stock vertically in half. Then using a paper cutter or a pair of scissors, cut along the crease of the fold. Now you have two pieces of card stock and you will fold them down and press firmly on the crease. Each piece of card stock will make two Halloween invitations. Continue this step until you have the amount of invitations you need.
Step Two – A quick way to speed up the invitation making process is to type up your party information* using a word processing program and then print out the information. Cut the information out and with a glue stick, paste the info square inside of your Halloween invitation.
Name of host/hostess, type of party, location, time, RSVP information and anything else you need your guests to know before the celebration (costumes, refreshments, games, etc)
Step Three – Finally, you will secure the black feathers onto the front of the Halloween cards. After your glue gun has warmed up, glide a thin line of glue from tip to end on the back of the feather and place it onto the center of the card.
