Mummy treat cups are the perfect containers to hold Halloween candy. You can use the cups to display candy in your home or you can use them to liven up your food table at a Halloween party. You can also use the cups for party drinks. If you want to impress your trick-or-treaters, you can make a bunch of little mummy treat cups to hold the candy or other treats you hand out to the ghouls and goblins that come knocking on your door Halloween night. Below are instructions as to how you can hold candy in the cups if you plan on dropping them into trick-or-treat bags.

All you need for this Halloween craft are some paper cups or plastic cups, white fabric, glue or paste (click here to make your own paste) and whatever type of eyes and other decorations you want to add to the mummy cups. If you are using the cups to hold candy in your home or as a display on your Halloween party table, you will want to choose a large size cup. If you are going to make cups to hand out to your trick-or-treaters, you might want to buy the little 5 ounce cups.
For white fabric, all you need are some old white t-shirts. The grungier the shirts are the better. Start this project by cutting the t-shirt into strips. The easiest way to do this is the cut a big rectangle out of the shirt and fold it over and over again so you have a fabric tube. Then with good scissors, cut sections about an inch wide. This will create long strips of fabric that you can use. You can vary the widths a bit. And don’t worry if the strips are jagged. That will just help your mummy cup look more realistic. If you don’t have any old white t-shirts, you can buy a yard or two of any cheap stretchy white knit fabric, or buy some old t-shirts at a thrift store.
To put the mummy cups together, add some glue around the bottom of your cup. You can use white glue or a glue stick. Then wrap a strip of fabric around the base. Add more glue around the entire cup and wrap the entire cup with the fabric strips. Cut off any remaining fabric and use it for the next cup.
If you want the cups to have a crusty feel to them, you can make a glue wash by mixing a bit of white glue in a cup with some water. Then apply all over the mummy cup with a paint brush or craft sponge then set it aside to dry.
When your cups are all wrapped you can either glue on wiggle eyes or you can draw on eyes. You can also add decorations like a bow tie for a boy cup or a ribbon for a girl cup. You can even get more creative by adding some fake blood for special effects.
Once your cups are complete just fill them with Halloween candy. Since the cups have been handled, it might be a good idea to line each cup with a baggie before adding the treats. You could also line each cup with a coffee filter.
To hold candy or other treats in the cups that you will be handing out on Halloween night, just put the treats in snack size zip lock bags or twist and tie sandwich bags then put the bag of treats in the cups. Then secure the bags by scotch taping them to the cups on the inside of the cups. Your trick or treaters will love these mummy cup treats!
