Halloween is just around the corner and if you are like me, you are wondering what you are going to do for decorations. All you need is a little imagination and some pumpkins. Some of these crafts are with whole pumpkins and some are with carved pumpkins. However, if you choose to make one of these crafts for a carved pumpkin please use safety. Grab some pumpkins, grab your craft box and enjoy your creativity. Have fun and enjoy!
Create a “spooky” scene with these bats created from mi nature pumpkins.
What you will need for this project is: black acrylic paint, ornamental mi nature pumpkins, black and white craft foam, hole punch, glue dots, black duct tape, toothpicks, wooden skewers. You will also need to draw wings, ears and eyes for this project. Don’t worry about the wings, ears, and eyes being perfect because these are what is going to make the bat o’laterns unique.
1. Paint your pumpkins black and let them dry completely.
2. Draw your eyes and trace them onto the white craft foam. Make two eyes per pumpkin. Use a hole punch for the pupils. Use the glue dots and adhere them to the pumpkin.
3. Draw your wings and ears and trace them onto the black craft foam. Make the wings 6 inches long. Two wings and two ears are needed per pumpkin. Attach the ears by taping a toothpick to the back of each one, leaving about 1 1/2 inches of the toothpick exposed, then inserting it into the top of the pumpkin.
4. Finally, tape a skewer to the back of each wing, leaving a 2-inch point exposed, and push it in place.
Have fun creating this bat o’ latern. These are a sure way to have a conversation piece and your kids will enjoy making these bats.
