Halo: Reach is about to get an upgrade with the Noble Map Pack that comes out on November 30th, 2010. Gamers will now find themselves with three new maps and seven new achievements. Luckily, the achievements add 250 Gamerscore onto Reach for a total of 1,250 G. You’ll have the new levels Breakpoint,Tempest, and Anchor 9 to become familiar with and blast opponents away on. Most people already know about all of that so we’re going to focus on the achievements and how to get them. Unfortunately, many of these achievements will be a little difficult for novice Reach players, but none of them are impossible for people with some skill. So then, here we go!
Both Barrels (50 G) “Earn a Double Kill with the shotgun in multiplayer Matchmaking.”
Okay, this achievement should be pretty darn easy for anyone that can aim. You just need a map with a shotgun and some people to own with said shotgun. It doesn’t matter what map you’re playing, as long as the shotgun is there. At the start of the match, rush the shotgun, take it, and go hunting. You should specifically be looking for two enemies near each other, but you’ll want to get kills and defend yourself while doing so. Once you shotgun the first enemy, you’ll have 4 seconds to kill the next one with the shotgun.
Obviously, this achievement isn’t hard at all. The very best place to get this achievement, however, is in a game of Infection. As the human, the shotgun will be one of your weapons, and you should have no problem at all getting a Double Kill off two zombies charging at you. Just don’t die at the very start of the game before you can kill anything. As a tip, kill the zombies in one shot or you will die and you just don’t want that to happen if you want to get this achievement.
Best Method:Being the Human in a game of Infection. Just shoot two of the zombies.
Cross-Mappin’ (50 G) “Kill a player long range with the DMR in a matchmade Slayer game.”
Well, since this achievement mentions long range, then you’ll want to be playing a game of Slayer on one of the medium to large sized maps because the small ones just won’t cut it. You just need to use the DMR to basically snipe someone from almost across the entire map. Of course, this means you’ll have to hit that person with five or more rounds from the DMR at long range, which isn’t the easiest thing to do if you have poor aim. Anyways, you’ll want to aim for a person that isn’t near cover because they’ll obviously just hide before you can kill them. Aim for the head for the quickest kill.
Best Method: Play a round of Slayer DMRs on Hemorrhage; shoot and kill an enmy from afar.
Offensive Driver (20 G) “Earn a kill in a matchmade Rocket Race game.”
There isn’t much of a method to this one because it’s so simple. Also, it’s kind of based on luck slightly because you won’t always be able to kill the person with the Rocket Launcher. The only way you can kill someone in a Rocket Race match is if they fall off the Mongoose. In order to knock them off, you need to hit their Mongoose with a rocket and hope that it lands upside down so that the riders fall off. From there, just shoot and kill them with a rocket. The only problem you’ll have with this achievement is actually hitting the person with the rocket as you’re riding around. Other than that, this achievement is pretty simple.
Best Method: Play ANY Rocket Race map, rocket someone’s Mongoose, and kill them if they fall off.
Poppin’ And Lockin’ (25 G) “Destroy a vehicle using Armor Lock in a matchmade game.”
I know, I know. You probably hate Armor Lock. To get this achievement, you simply need to hit Armor Lock just before a vehicle splatters you. This will cause it to blow up, and the achievement will pop. Yeah, Poppin’ and Lockin’ is pretty simple. Anyone that has too much trouble with this one probably shouldn’t be playing Reach in the first place. Anyways, you can get it on any level that has vehicles, as long as you are in multiplayer Matchmaking. Going into Armor Lock when a vehicle is boosting toward you will almost always result in a blown up vehicle.
Best Method: Just hit Armor Lock on a vehicle boosting toward you.
Totally Worth It (50 G) “Earn a Double Kill from the grave in multiplayer Matchmaking.”
Unfortunately, this is probably going to be one of the hardest new achievements for people because it involves a good amount of luck. You need to kill two enemies from the grave at once, which means you’ll need rockets or grenades or something else that is explosive. More than likely, you’ll want to just stick someone standing near another opponent as you die and then hope that they both die. Other than that, there is no simple way to get this achievement.
Best Method: Stick an opponent near another, die, and hope they both die.
You Ate All The Chips (42 G) “Collect all of the flags in a matchmade Stockpile game.”
Okay, this achievement is a bit ambiguous because it can mean plenty of different things. The achievement hasn’t been officially explained yet, but the best plausible theory is that you need to capture all 4 of the flags that appear in any given Stockpile “minute”. For those that are confused, this means that you need to capture all 4 flags during any capture minute in order to get the achievement. A diligent person shouldn’t have too much trouble with this one, but it can get difficult if you’re going up against a good team. Just hope that you opponents don’t know what they’re doing so that you can capture the four flags in any given minute of capture.
Best Method: Stockpile Pro at Sword Base or Boardwalk
* Of course, if this achievement means capture all 10 flags during the match, then that’s just mean.
You Blew It Up! (13 G) “Blow up the research facility in a matchmade Invasion game on Breakpoint.”
Well, this one should be pretty simple. You need to win the game of Invasion on Breakpoint for your team by being the one who blows up the research facility. Obviously, I haven’t played this map yet, so I don’t know the level too well. I assume that you should just play the level and do whatever is necessary to blow up the facility. Just make sure that you have some cover from your teammates. Of course, you just need a little luck for this one because your teammates will be trying to win the game of Invasion too.
Best Method: N/A
In reality, you’ll be taking some time to get all seven of the new achievements in a legitimate fashion. You can boost them all if you really want to, but some people will be more satisfied with the thrill of doing it themselves for real. Either way, these achievements are pretty good additions to Halo: Reach and most players will have fun trying to get them. Some of them are going to be difficult even for veteran players of the game. Anyways, get Noble Map Pack on November 30th, 2010 and enjoy it!
