Add a little handmade to your Christmas this year with this Christmas craft. Canning jar lids make ideal frames for your photos. These easy to make Christmas ornaments are sure to be family hits and make great gifts too. Use the handmade ornaments to frame school photos. Better yet, create a family heritage theme by decorating your Christmas tree with a set of handmade ornaments using copies of vintage family photos.
Wide mouth jar lid and band
½” wide ribbon
Step 1: Cut photo to fit jar lid. Use tacky glue to secure photo to the lid. Let dry.
Step 2: Apply glue along the inside of the lid band. Gently set the lid with glued photo into the jar ring. Let dry.
Step 3: Cut a circle of quilt batting to fit in the void behind the lid. Apply a line of glue along the outside lid band. Set your felt on top of the glue on the rim. Once dry, trim excess felt.
Step 4: Glue ribbon around outside of frame, making a loop at the top of the frame for hanging it on the tree.
You can also use this Christmas craft to make handmade gift tags. Frame a picture of the gift recipient and use heavy card stock instead of felt as backing for your gift tag.
Wide mouth lids and bands can be purchased in the home canning section of most grocery stories or online. I used Ball wide mouth lids and bands for this project.
