Shoes, shoes, shoes. Yes, I absolutely love shoes. One of my favorite wardrobe pieces to shop for is shoes, and my closet can certainly attest to that. I have a stand up shoe rack, an over the door shoe rack and still there were pairs of shoes on the closet floor and in the corner of my bedroom. I had contemplated purchasing an under the bed shoe organizer for some time, but was looking to spend less than the average price of twenty dollars I saw them advertised for. I then came across Handy Trends Below The Bed Shoe Organizer priced at only five dollars. I decided to spend this small amount on this organizer product, and see if it fit my needs. Here is what I discovered about this product.
The Handy Trends Below The Bed Shoe Organizer claims on the front of the box that it neatly corrals twelve pairs of shoes. The picture on the front shows a closet floor that definitely resembled mine, with shoes in a heap on the floor. The after picture shows the same shoes neatly and prettily displayed in a convenient plastic covered storage case, hidden under the bed. For only five dollars, I was willing to give it a try.
The first thing I noticed when opening the Handy Trends Below The Bed Shoe Organizer was the odd smell that hit me after pulling the organizer out of the box. I can’t put my finger on what it was, it was a strong smell of plastic mixed with something else. The smell quickly dissipated and I chalked it up to the extreme humidity in the air the week I purchased this. I know that the discount store I purchased the product from often has a surplus of items in their storage room, and I figured this box may have been sitting for quite a while before being put out on display. The product may have picked up the odor from the space it was sitting in. It was definitely off putting, but thankfully it disappeared quickly.
I unrolled the Handy Trends Below The Bed Shoe Organizer and laid it flat on my bed. I unzipped the enclosure piece and began to place my wayward shoes inside. The cloth separators are not completely attached to the back of the organizer, so they do shift in and out of place. I quickly filled up the organizer, noting that the spaces for the shoes are just large enough for pumps, sandals and flip flops, but are too narrow for heavier, bulkier shoes.
When I tried to close up the shoe organizer, the zipper became stuck and then went off track. After back tracking and zipping it up slowly and carefully the second time, I did not have any more problems closing the organizer. I made a mental note to myself to unzip the organizer very carefully the next time I needed to retrieve a pair of shoes from it.
Overall, I would give the Handy Trendy Below The Bed Shoe Organizer two out of five stars. The price was certainly right, and it surely neatened up my closet and bedroom. However, the product is a bit flimsy and I don’t expect it to last forever if I intend to wear any of the shoes contained in it often. I think that my next shoe organizer will be one that costs a bit more, and hopefully will be a bit more substantial.
