Harrison Ford braved the Texas cold and headed into Dallas’ NorthPark Mall to promote his upcoming drama, Extraordinary Measures on Tuesday, January 5th, 2010. Ford was escorted off an elevator into the movie theater’s lobby where he was met by hundreds of cheering fans eagerly hoping to get an autograph or a chance to meet the legendary actor. The crowd would not be disappointed.
First though, he had business to tend to. Ford walked the red carpet and answered questions from the press people that were able to attend. Fortunately, I was one of those news and press outlets. All the press agents got their moment with the actor and asked one or two questions about the new film and his involvement. Ford was very cordial and spoke quietly and politely to everyone. After speaking to me, the real surprise and treat began.
The actor quickly turned away from my video camera and strolled across to the other side of the red carpet to greet fans. He walked almost all the way down the crowd signing every piece of paper and picture stuck in front of him. He also allowed people to take pictures of him, shook their hands, and spoke with them.
The actor even took time to have a picture taken with a young boy. This all took around 10 minutes, which was definitely more time than I thought would be allowed for him to walk around in public. He truly proved to be all about the fans.
The event was very well organized by the folks over at Levenson-Hill. It was a life long dream come true to get to meet my all-time favorite actor that I will not forget. I met Indiana Jones and Han Solo! Thank you L&H!
