Harry Potter 7 Part One is the best Harry Potter film yet. This is said every time a new Harry Potter film comes out and this time it is truer than ever. The cast has grown up in these roles, so their ease is apparent. Their performances (Emma, Rupert and Daniel) are flawless. The plot is much more mature than that of the first six Harry Potter films and the setting is (finally) different.

It appears that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is more of an every age movie than all Harry Potter movies that came before. When this author went to view the film, there were only two children in the entire theater. This is not surprising, considering it is a school day. However, the theater was full – of adults. Not only that, when the film was over, these adults were extolling the film. This was not a kid’s movie. In fact, kids should only watch this movie in the company of adults.
There were a few scenes in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part one that effectively took the Harry Potter films to another level. There is a scene between Ron and Harry near the beginning where Harry is thinking of leaving without his friends to save them where Rupert and Daniel’s change from teens to adults is shockingly obvious. Sure, they have been growing up for a long time, but the content of this film really highlights the fact. This is good because this film could not have starred children and have been as good.
One disappointingly absent moment from Harry Potter 7 Part One is a Ron and Hermione kiss. Filmmakers have been skirting this romance too much. It seems unrealistic that a pair of people who love each other would wait so long to so much as kiss, given that they are facing uncertainty and possible death. Get it over with already. What was present in the film was a half-naked kiss between Harry and Hermione (well, the ghostly images of them that haunt Ron). Yes, you read it right – half-naked. You cannot see anything too risqué, but they are clearly lacking shirts. It is not terrible, but it is rather unnecessary to the plot. The kiss would have covered the same bases without being so lacking in the clothing department.
If you have been following the Harry Potter films from the start, you will be impressed by the rapid progression into more mature plot twists. If you have never seen a Harry Potter film, start now with the first because you cannot see Harry Potter 7 without having seen the first six and you cannot miss this movie. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows does what other sequels (especially ones so late in the franchise) always fail to do. It was vastly better than the first and that is saying a lot.
