If you run a site using PHP Nuke, you have the option of being emailed when new stories are submitted to your site. In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to get email alerts when someone submits news stories to your site in PHP Nuke. This tutorial will show you where to find this option and it will show you how to go about setting the option up. You will need to be logged in as admin to see this feature.
Step 1 – Opening Your Preferences Panel in PHP Nuke
Your first step is to open your Preferences panel in PHP Nuke. This panel is located in the Administration Menu. Look for the Preferences button and click it to load the preferences panel. Then move on to step 2.
Step 2 – Locating Your Mail Stories Box in PHP Nuke
Your next step is to locate your Mail Stories box. The page that you are on now will look the same as if you never clicked it, but you will need to scroll down. Scroll your page down until you see the Mail News Stories to Admin box. This is where you will set up the options to have an email alert you when someone submits news stories to your site.
Step 3 – Setting Up Your Mail News Stories Options in PHP Nuke
Now you are ready to set up your options to be alerted when news stories have been submitted to your site. First, you will need to click the Yes option in the first field. This is saying, yes you want to be notified when someone submits a news story. Next, you will need to enter the email address you want the alerts sent to. Enter this address in the second field. In the next field, you can enter what you want the email subject to read. You can leave this field as it is or you can change it to what you want. In the email message window, you can type an email to yourself that you will see when a news story is submitted. You can also leave this as it is or change it. In the from field, you can leave webmaster or type another name.
When you are finished setting up your mailing options, you will need to save your updated preferences. Scroll all the way to the bottom of your page and click the Save Changes button.
