Are you a mother with one or more children and another one on the way? Trying to help the other kid(s) welcome the new baby with open arms and not so much jealousy? How about having your child make the baby a personalized onesie just for him/her?
This is what you will need:
1 white onesie
You will want to cut the cardboard so that it fits inside the onesie and holds the onesie tight.
Then simply give the older kids the fabric paint and fabric paint markers and let them color the onesie however they want. They can draw whatever they feel like on it.
You can paint their hands and put their handprints on the onesie and then write their names on the palms of their handprints. Then write some message at the top that says something like “I’m so glad to have older sisters and brothers to lend me a helping hand”.
You can also use stamps to stamp different images on the onesie. Use a sponge to sponge paint on the onesie. Make it as unique as your kids can come up with.
My daughter made dots all over the onesie she did for her baby brother.
It’s also great as a sign in sheet for baby showers; everyone can write a message on the onesie and sign it.
You can do it for baby’s first birthday. Write “Happy First Birthday” and then have all the family and friends sign the onesie, leave a message for him on the onesie. Kids can even put their handprints on the onesie to say they were there to help celebrate.
If you have a lot of people and you can’t fit it all onto just one onesie you can use several onesies and have people sign them. Then after the party and everyone have signed an onesie you can take all those onesies and sew them together into a small quilt for you baby. That way you will always have it. The baby can use it while they are small enough, then when they out grow it you can hang it on the wall as a wall hanging.
If you’re making the quilt for their first birthday then you can use other clothing that was your favorite or his favorite in all the different sizes he had gone through his first year and use that as the other fabric needed to make the quilt.
