Cromwell Goodwin, a Royal Oak resident over 150 years ago and a veteran of the war of 1812, will finally be recognized with a ceremony in his hometown of Royal Oak. The recognition includes a marked headstone in the Royal Oak Cemetery, which can be found at Main Street and 12 Mile Road.
The event will be taking place on Saturday, Sep. 11, from 1-2 p.m. at the Royal Oak Cemetery, and the honor is being presented by the Royal Oak Historical Commission and the Royal Oak Nature Society. The ceremony will recognize Cromwell Goodwin for his contributions to the city of Royal Oak and for his service to our nation in the War of 1812.
The event is open to all residents of Royal Oak and will also have members of the Michigan Society of the War of 1812 present to bring a sense of history to the ceremony.
