The holidays are always an exciting time for families and singles alike. The holiday in Austin offers many great activities during the Christmas season and this year is no different. For those who like to get out and do things other than shop then there are many places where you can go and do just that with many events that are free for the family. The following are some of the holiday happenings in Austin, Texas 2010:
Holiday Sing-Along and Downtown Stroll December 4, 2010 – This is a free event and begins at 6 pm with singing Christmas carols on the south steps of the capital building. At 7 pm is the annual tree lighting that is followed by the downtown stroll. If you would like to get in a bit of shopping downtown or have a bite to eat, most businesses are staying open later on this day.
Holidays in Gruene: Cowboy Kringle Kid’s Workshop Benefiting Communities in Schools – If you want to have a few hours on your own shopping and you would like to help the schools in the area, then you need to take your children to this workshop while you have some time alone. They can make gifts and wrap them for you or other family members. This event is every weekend in December until Christmas and is located in the historic Gruene District.
WWE Presents Monday Night RAW December 20 – OK, so this event may not be considered a huge holiday happening, but with it coming just five days before Christmas, you can surprise your wrestling fan with tickets to this event. Make sure to purchase tickets close to the ring because this is a live televised event and your loved one could get some television face time as a special bonus. All of the stars of the WWE are on hand ready to battle each other at the Frank Erwin Center.
There is so much to see and do this Christmas but the above are the three best venues to check out. Whether you are singing carols or watching wrestlers take each other down, this holiday season is bound to be an exciting one. You can even drop your children off at a workshop while you buy their gifts and they can make you some great presents while they are there. Just make sure you get out and about and check out all the lights in the downtown walk too.
