Christmas is a season full of family, food, shopping, and gifts. Like most people it warms your heart to see the smiles on their faces when they open their gifts on Christmas morning. With the economy not being the greatest and unemployment rates still rising, you might find yourself wondering, “How will I be able to afford all those gifts this year?”. Well, here are some simple, yet heart felt homemade gifts that your friends and family are sure to love!
Christmas Goodie Tins
If you save your coffee or large formula cans this is a simple and tasty gift for those people on your list with a sweet tooth.
Supplies: One can for each person, white spray paint, pastel paints colors of your choice (green, red, gold, silver, black), Ribbon or bows for each can, wax paper, tissue paper
Directions: First you will want to wash and dry your cans and lids thoroughly, being sure to remove any labels. When cans are dry, spray paint outside of cans and set out to dry. Be sure to spray paint cans in a well ventilated area or outside. When paint is dry, decorate your cans by painting snowy Christmas scenes, snowman, Santa Claus, reindeer, holly, Christmas tree, angels, or whatever you choose. After cans have been painted and allowed to dry, line the inside first with tissue paper 1-2 sheets, your color of choice. Then line with a piece of wax paper. Fill with homemade goodies such as Christmas cookies, fudge, candies, brownies, or beef jerky. Fold over wax paper to help protect contents, then fold over tissue paper. Cover with lid and place a bow on top. The perfect homemade gift for friends, family, co-workers, and anyone else on your list this year.
