Making your own coffee creamer is an easy thing to do. Whether it be a cost issue, or you’re suddenly out of creamer and you have to make do with what you have, knowing how to make your own coffee creamer is a fun way to improvise when you need to, and save a lot of money along the way!
A great basic recipe for making your own (liquid) coffee creamer is using equal parts sweetened condensed milk and regular milk of your choosing. You can add to this combination anything you’d like- a few drops of peppermint extract, vanilla, cinnamon, almond extract, cocoa powder, honey, whatever you want to add to taste. My favorite is honey- on the odd occasion I just have to have a coffee creamer, I mix up a bottle quickly using 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk, 1/4 cup regular milk (I like vanilla soy milk), and 3 tablespoons honey. I combine it all in an empty soda bottle, put the lid on, and shake until mixed- voila! Homemade coffee creamer with a slightly nutty, vanilla taste, that is just delightful in coffee. I suggest keeping a 20 ounce or liter sized soda bottle on hand to mix your coffee creamer with.
You can also just buy half and half and add equal parts milk to it, to make a rich creamer at far less than what you would pay for creamer at the store. I love half and half mixed with vanilla soy milk and honey. Delicious for a great treat. Adding cocoa powder and vanilla extract and shaking it well also creates a great chocolate flavored creamer.
If you don’t like liquid coffee creamer, simply go powdered instead. I take a cup of powdered dry milk and add a few of my favorite flavorings (cinnamon and vanilla), and stir it up to taste. It can be kept in an old coffee creamer container, and tastes great in coffee whenever you’d like. Another quick favorite is cocoa mix powder stirred into a cup of powdered milk. Simply spoon out or pour out what you’d like and you are good to go! Whether you like liquid or powdered creamer, there’s no reason you can’t make it yourself!
