I don’t always like my lip balms to have scents and flavors to them so I usually make my own homemade unscented lip balm using natural moisturizing and protecting ingredients. The lip balm is very easy to make and feels very nourishing to the lips. Best of all it can be applied as often as necessary to help keep lips very soft and kissable.
The natural ingredients I use to make my homemade unscented lip balm are 1 tablespoon of cocoa butter, 1 tablespoon of shea butter, 1 tablespoon of beeswax, ¼ teaspoon of jojoba oil, ¼ teaspoon of grape seed oil, ¼ teaspoon of vitamin E oil, ¼ teaspoon of aloe vera gel, and ¼ teaspoon of coconut oil. All these ingredients are natural moisturizers and skin protectors and help keep the lips soft and smooth. These natural ingredients can be found at your local health food stores, herbal stores, grocery stores, and drugstores. They can be a bit expensive to buy, but are well worth having on hand because you can make lip balm at anytime when you run out.
The way I like to make the homemade unscented lip balm is by placing the 1 tablespoon of cocoa butter, 1 tablespoon of shea butter, 1 tablespoon of beeswax, ¼ teaspoon of jojoba oil, ¼ teaspoon of grape seed oil, ¼ teaspoon of vitamin E oil, ¼ teaspoon of aloe vera gel, and ¼ teaspoon of coconut oil into a small microwave bowl. Then I place the bowl with the ingredients in it in the microwave for 40 seconds or until the ingredients have completely melted into a golden rich liquid. Once the ingredients are melted I remove the from the microwave and stir them together. After I pour the melted combined ingredients into a small lip balm jar and then place the lip balm jar and place it into the refrigerator for about 10 minutes or until it is a solid form. After I remove the lip balm from the refrigerator and use it like I would any other lip balm.
Now when you go to use the lip balm it is best to use your fingers. The reason why is the lip balm is a solid waxy form and it melted better and is easier to get out with warm fingers. Once you have some of the lip balm on your fingertips all you need to do is massage it into your lips. The lip balm will feel slightly waxy at first, but it will melted into your lips and hydrate them very well while adding a nice clear natural shine to them which I really like. Remember this lip balm wont have any scent of flavor to it so I wouldn’t be licking your lips when you wear it cause it will not taste very good at all. Trust me I have done it by accident.
I do hope this helps some of you out there who do not like scented or flavored lip balms as well make a lip balm that you can like and use. I wish you all the best of luck with making this simple lip balm and hope you enjoy using it on your lips.
