Ready, Weather or Not
Weather is the topic of the day. When a strong line of storms plowed through Tennessee yesterday (and early this morning) I don’t think many of us thought it would be as bad as it was. The wind whipped and the rain poured, and the funnel clouds were spotted.
In Chattanooga, Tennessee a tornado slammed into the Chickamauga Dam, causing a 7 car pile-up. Once the tornado hit the dam, it bounced across the Tennessee River and slammed into a sub-division and apartment complex before it disappeared back up into the clouds. A witness said when the tornado hit it lasted about 10 seconds, although it must have seemed like an eternity. Due to debris on the roadway, schools in Hamilton County, TN will open two hours late today, but will dismiss at the usual time.
Several funnel clouds were spotted in other areas including McMinn and Loudon Counties and there were multiple tornado warnings in East Tennessee and the Lower Tennessee Valley. Things are still wet, and will continue to be so for a few more hours. Be careful on the roads.

She is none other than Paula Deen. What’s next for Paula Deen? She has been chosen to be the Grand Marshall of the 2011 Rose Parade. Paula said she has finally done something that impresses her sons! Not only will Paula Deen ride in the parade, she will toss the coin prior to the Rose Bowl game. Good for her, you go girl and don’t forget the butter.
Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia – Costco Grand Opening
Today is the big day; Costco will open its doors at 8:00 am. The store anticipated hiring 150 people of the 11,000 applicants, but thought they could hire more due to the high volume of advance memberships. As of today they hired 180 workers. They are ready for the customers to arrive! Fort Oglethorpe is in North Georgia, not far from the Tennessee border.
