It’s time to remodel the basement kitchen. Many do-it-yourselfers wish to remodel their basement kitchen themselves instead of hiring a professional. When remodeling your basement kitchen, take into account how much natural lighting your basement kitchen gets. If your basement has small windows, consider a light paint color or light colored wallpaper. This option creates an illusion of a large, airy room. Remodeling a basement kitchen does not require extensive skills or tools. Allow at least one weekend to complete a basement kitchen remodel.
Things you need
Glass cabinet doors
Paint the ceiling in your basement kitchen with ceiling paint, a paintbrush and a paint roller. Painting the ceiling immediately remodels the look and feel to the basement.
Hang wallpaper in your basement kitchen instead of painting the walls according to the manufacturer’s directions. This allows you to add a decorative touch to the walls in your basement kitchen.
Remove your kitchen cabinet doors with your screwdriver and set aside. Remove items inside the kitchen cabinets. Paint the kitchen cabinets frame, inside and out, with interior paint and paintbrush. Allow the paint to dry at least two hours.
Install glass cabinet doors on your kitchen cabinet by attaching them with the screws provided and your screwdriver. This creates an illusion of a larger space in the kitchen by allowing you to see inside the cabinets.
Remove your refrigerator and stove, and install a new one according to the manufacturer’s directions. Typically, unplug the appliance from the electrical receptacle and remove it from its designated area. Insert the new appliance and plug it into the electrical receptacle.
Remove the kitchen sink by shutting of the water, removing the plumbing lines under the sink and loosening the sink from the cabinet. Install a new sink in the designated area according to the manufacturer’s directions.
Place an area rug under the table and on the floor next to the sink as an added decorative touch to your basement kitchen. This prevents you from removing and installing new flooring in the basement, unless of course you wish to do so.
