Some products can last longer than others can. Here is a brief summary of how long we should keep most products.
Mascara should be thrown away after 3 months of use. We can also tell when it goes bad becomes it will become cakey, dry and smelly.
It may be surprising to know that eye shadows should also be thrown away after 3 months of use. However, if you wish to expand this to a longer period like 6 months you can use disposable applicators instead of the applicator that comes with the shadow.
Lipsticks should be thrown away after a year of use.
Foundations should be thrown a way after 6 to 12 months of use. These will start to have an odor when they begin to go bad and they will not perform as well. You can also extend the life of your foundation by using disposable sponges to apply this or changing your applicator regularly.
Powder blushes can last up to 2 years. However, the creamy variety will generally only last up to a year. You can tell when the creamy variety becomes bad because it will become hard it will not apply very well.
How can you help extend the life of your makeup?
• Each time you apply your makeup, clean the brush by wiping a tissue over it.
• Every one to two weeks, wash your brushes with a mixture of shampoo and water
• Use disposable sponges
Finally, if you want to make sure you throw away your makeup label each makeup item stating when it is time to replace it.
If you replace your makeup as you should, you will be protecting your skin from extra bacteria and possibly be protecting it from infection.
