OK- I joined Triond because it’s a dumpy little site that lets you basically publish whatever you want and pays you in, well, I don’t know how. I hear they pay via page views, I hear they pay based on clicking on ads that go along with your articles. I don’t know. Since I’ve made a whopping $.79 since August with over 50 articles (that are truly crappy articles, too, I might add) on display, I don’t give a shit how they pay out their money, in 3 months I’ve made enough to get a 2 ounce frozen yogurt at Kiwi Loco. Woo, flippin hoo.
Fortitude is the real joke. I have submitted several lengthy articles (they want 1700 characters or more) to this site (that I paid $23.88 to join- stupid, I know) and have since only made $2.30, and not by my articles, since September. I get paid by reviewing other people’s articles, $.05 an article, where I basically skim over the entire thing without reading it and then give it a basic 7 or 8. Hey, these people never let MY articles hit the front page so I can get $10 for it, so why should I actually give their articles any heed? I wouldn’t rate them at all if the site didn’t pay a whopping $.05 per article review. (note: there are only about 6 or so articles submitted a week, and often less, and Fortitude makes you wait 45 days for a payout once you request it. Looks like I’ll be waiting a long time to not only make my money back, but to get my funds when I finally do as well).
Ha ha- so I’m glad I still have Associated Content to turn to, which pays me enough to pay all the bills and feel handsomely rewarded in my work. Even if I just got paid in page views and no upfront pay at all, it would be so much better than these other sites could pay out to me. My adventures in trying to find another reputable writing site has ended with the disappointing outcome of many other sites other people swear by (don’t even get me started on Review Stream, that site is a complete joke), and Associated Content has treated me so well, so why ruin a good thing? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
