I think that pro football has set a fine example for all of us. We no longer have to just do our jobs, we can celebrate after everything we do! Look, some idiot from the NFL makes a tackle. Big deal – that’s his job. But we have to watch him high five, bump butts and do a dance after he made a tackle.
Can you imagine if other professions took this approach?
“Dr. Jones, Dr. Jones…”
” The patient is bleeding. A lot. In fact I am standing in puddle of blood..”
“Not now nurse, I’m doing a victory dance.”
“But doctor, all you did was open up his chest – we still have to stop the bleeding..”
But the doctor is right. If an NFL lineman can do an obnoxious victory dance, JUST for making a tackle, why can’t the doctor do one for JUST opening up a patient.
“Whoopee – open that champagne, let’s do a conga down the aisles. Come on honey..”
“Sir, I am a flight attendant!”
“Sure honey, we are celebrating. I said CELEBRATING – give me a little sugar ..”
” But sir, we just took off..”
“And BABY, that’s cause to CELEBRATE..”
” But sir, we still have to LAND the plane…”
So you can see what a great influence the NFL can have on professionals. Imagine your dentist celebrating after he sticks you with Novocain, your mailman dancing after he delivers one letter, your grocery clerk giving you a high five after he packs one bag, your teenage son celebrating after he accomplishes the feat of getting out of bed before noon, your hairdresser celebrating after she cuts one piece of hair, your banking teller celebrating after you hand her a deposit slip, your bartender shaking his bootie on the bar after pouring you a drink, your priest celebrating after passing out the wafers…OH MY GOD WILL IT NEVER END????
Yes , we are truly blessed to have such fine role models in the NFL. When they start to celebrate after drinking a cup of Gatorade, I may quietly walk off a pier somewhere. I just can’t stand it anymore!
