Do you have a problem with getting a ton of headaches and even though you eat right and get a ton of sleep you just aren’t sure what could be causing it? Well, there are a few things that you can do to prevent further headaches and make sure that they are less frequent and less overbearing when they occur.
So, what is it that you can do to prevent headaches? Well, as a person who has to deal with sinus headaches as well as migraines I can tell you there are quite a few things you can do to help stop and prevent them. The main reason for an increased frequency of headaches has to do with the lack of hydration and the lack of water intake. If you are working outside you should make sure to always be properly hydrated and even throughout the day you should be sure to stay hydrated and drinking water. If you have difficulty drinking water because you don’t always have it on hand, investing in a water bottle can help prevent that and get you in the habit of drinking it more and wanting to take water with you wherever you go.
While drinking water is a main step to preventing and lessening the pain of headaches, blood flow is also important. Proper exercise and heart health can go a long way in preventing headaches throughout your day. The reason for this is that when you increase blood flow in the body you also increase the oxygen content in the blood. If you are not properly conditioned and you work outside, then you have the chance of getting a headache because your blood flow is poor and your heart can’t pump enough blood throughout your body to provide the right amount of oxygen to the body. The other issue here is that if you don’t have proper blood flow and you don’t get enough oxygen you will also get tired quicker and feel more wore out.
Though these first two steps can help to prevent headaches and migraines, a migraine is still a different animal in terms of things. If you suffer from migraines like I do you understand that despite your best efforts they will continue to happen, but the key is to lessen their frequency and severity as much as you can. While taking special medication is the usual line of choice for people who suffer from them, there is a better alternative that could help to prevent them. After taking medication for a while I saw a chiropractor to see what could be done and it was found that a ton of things were out of alignment. After the chiropractor made the proper adjustments the frequency and severity of my migraines was much less. Not only that, but I felt a whole lot better in general and got much better sleep as a result. Even though this process worked, you have to be sure to go back when the severity and frequency increases again. They will never truly go away, but the key again is to slow down their frequency.
The last and most important key to preventing headaches and lowering their frequency is the use of proper breathing. Depending upon what you’re doing and the type of work you may be doing, you need to have a proper breathing routine. You need to work with your body to provide the proper amount of oxygen and pace yourself so that you don’t put too much stress on your body. If you overwork yourself or if you don’t allow yourself to catch your breath you will have problems with headaches. It will take a few times to get the breathing completely correct, but once you have the process and the timing down you will start doing it without even thinking about it. If you follow all these steps you will not only prevent headaches and lower their frequency, but make them easier to deal with in the process.
