Rachel Berry, the preppy, but somewhat unlikeable star of the FOX TV show “Glee” has an unmistakable preppy fashion sense. And if you things like Rachel Berry’s owl sweaters (or other various animal sweaters), plaid skirts and knee-high stockings, you might want to take some fashion tips from her. So how do you dress like Glee’s Rachel Berry? Here are some tips on how to get Rachel Berry’s look.
Always opt for a cardigan: Rachel Berry never wears hoodies, t-shirts or sweatshirts. In doubt, opt for a close-fitting, solid colored cardigan sweater.
Or, you can wear an animal sweater: Rachel Berry loves her animal sweaters. These sweaters have a crewcut neckline and feature one cute animal in the center of the sweater. ONE. Not several. This is important, or else you risk your outfit looking like something your grandma would wear.
No pants, always a skirt: Rachel Berry is rarely seen in jeans or dress pants. In fact, I don’t think I can ever remember her wearing pants on the show. Wear a skirt! Always! If you don’t care for skirts, then dressing like Glee’s Rachel Berry probably isn’t for you.
Hosiery is important! Rachel Berry often pairs knee-high socks with flat shoes. Tights will do too, if knee-high socks aren’t flattering on your legs.
Bows! Rachel Berry likes cute stuff and bows are one of her favorite fashion do’s! A bow on a sweater, in your hair, on your skirt, on your shoes – it’s all a fashion “do” when it comes to dressing like Rachel Berry. Just don’t overdo it; one bow is plenty. You don’t want to dress yourself head to toe in bows, you’ll look ridiculous.
Patterns Ahoy! Glee’s Rachel Berry loves patterns on the clothing she wears, whether it’s argyle, tartan, polka dots, stripes or otherwise. If you go with, say, an argyle sweater, make sure your skirt (yes, a SKIRT – I can’t emphasize that enough!) is a solid color.
Shoes: As far as shoes go, you’ll want to opt for footwear such as ballet flats, oxfords, saddle shoes or ankle boots.
Finally, keep the “cute” in check. If you’re wearing a ruffled skirt, you don’t want to be wearing a ruffled sweater, a bow headband and an owl necklace. If you overdo the cute factor, you’ll risk looking like a six year old. Just make sure to limit your “cute” item to one thing, whether it’s wearing a unicorn sweater or a paw-print skirt.
Rachel Berry’s style is preppy and cute – have fun with it! But make sure to wear a skirt.
