People can use the excuse that they can’t lose weight, because they have to eat or they won’t have energy. It is true that we gain our energy through the foods that we eat. Yet, that doesn’t mean that we can’t eat healthy, lose weight and still have energy. Some people just want to use energy as an excuse to eat as they please.
But how can or how should you eat to have energy?
First, you should not do all your eating at once. You should not go all day and then just eat one large meal. This is not healthy and this is not a way to have energy. In fact, if you go all day without eating and then put a lot of food into your body, you will probably find that you are may become more tired than you were before ate any food. What you should do is break your food into smaller portions.
You should eat frequently throughout the day. You should eat smaller meals and then eat some a couple small snacks. This will help keep your blood sugars up through out the day and your energy level. It will also help keep your metabolism stable.
Of course, you should be adding some iron and protein into these meals and snacks. If you are deficient in iron, you will feel tired. Consider adding more: apples, peanut butter, walnuts, oatmeal, eggs, soups, pumpkin seeds, and sunflowers into your diet.
Slow down on the sweets. Yes, sweets may give you a temporary energy lift. However, soon you will come down off the rush and then you may feel more tired than you started. When you feel a sugar craving coming on, you should reach for something more natural like a mouth watering piece of fruit.
You should also add more fiber to your diet. If you must have some sweets, consider a mixture of fiber and sugar such as an oatmeal cookie. The fiber in the cookie will help make the sugar a more time release chemical thus you won’t get as much of a rush as you would if you ate another type of cookie or sugar product. Plus, the fiber has many other health benefits.
Finally, make sure you are drinking enough water and getting enough sleep. Water will help the body process energy and sleep will help give your body the rest it needs.
So as you can see, you can eat healthy, still work to lose weight and maintain enough energy to get through the day. No excuses given here.
