Get the names of all the local fitness clubs in your area.
Search for them on the internet or call them to see what they have inside of there gyms. Find a gym that fits what you need. For example, if you aren’t going to the gym for cardio then do go to an all treadmill club and vice versa.
Find out how much a monthly memberships costs at each of your gyms that you have narrowed down to. This will narrow it down even more.
Ask the gyms if they have any other things like basketball courts, a smoothie shop or anything that would be worthwhile to join the club. Find a gym that offers you something in return instead of just weights, machines, and treadmills.
Visit each club that you have on your list now and see how busy they are usually. If you like lots of people around then find a gym that is packed every day. If you like solitude, find one that only has 1 or 2 customers an hour.
Last but not least, find a gym that has a reputation in your area. Don’t get a membership to a place that might close down in a month if you can help it.
Don’t overpay. Chances are you can find a cheaper one no matter what.
Don’t get sucked into the gym if it has 27 TV’s and 5 pieces of equipment.
