Cockroaches are a very common household pest. Cockroaches can be rather large and can deliver quite a scare to many people who don’t like creepy crawlies. Cockroaches can breed very quickly and can start an infestation. Here are some ways to keep these cockroaches out of your house…
Cracks and Holes
Secure every crack and hole that can allow any type of pest in. If it’s big enough for them, you can bet they will be coming in. You can but sealant for cracks and holes at any home improvement store. Go around filling all holes and cracks that you can find, which will block many of their potential entryways.
Make sure you clean up crumbs and messes. Cockroaches will eat anything that you leave out for them. Vacuum your carpets and sweep floors. Make sure that you don’t leave any food out that is uncovered or food on dishes in the sinks.
Boric acid is a common pest killer. You can mix this in with some brown sugar or some food. The cockroaches will consume it and will be poisoned. It may take a few days for them to die but they will. Boric acid is harmful to humans and pets, so be careful if there are pets or children in the house.
If you problem has gotten so bad that it seems almost impossible to fix, you can consider using a pesticide bomb. These are not good for pets and humans so you have to leave for several hours while it is being done. These will kill any bug inside the house. This can give you a nice start over on the bug problem, then you can make the proper adjustments and begin to use other methods.
You can buy cockroach traps at many home improvement stores. Cockroaches will walk over these and get stuck on them. They will not be able to get themselves off, so then you can dispose of them.
This is another common method of getting rid of cockroaches. You get a jar and put some liquid bait in the bottom of it, such as syrup or even water. Place this jar next to a wall where the cockroaches are commonly spotted. Once they climb into the jar to get the food, they will get stuck and not be able to climb back out.
Occasionally cockroaches can come into the house through drains, this can be easily stopped if you pour bleach down the drain.
