2010 saw a dramatic shift in decorating trends. The Old World style gave way to more muted colors, tropical island hues, and throw-backs to the 8os in purple and blue. If you spent the summer putting a fresh coat of paint on your walls, you probably have leftover buckets of paint lying around the house. What can you do to get rid of them? The last thing you should do is toss them in your garbage or throw it down the drain.
Sunnyvale has a hazardous waste disposal program, for items such as house paint, every month except December. If you have paint lying around in sealed containers that are no greater than 5 gallons, you can get rid of them for free.
Take them to the Smart Station center every third Saturday of the month during the hours of 8am and 1pm. Bring a copy of your photo ID and a household bill to show you are a Sunnyvale resident.
