Fall has arrived and many people are starting to prep for Winter. Fall never seems like it is a long season since Winter starts so quickly. So how can you get your bedroom ready for the colder season? Below you will see some tips, and suggestions on how you can give your home a nice look for the cooler season. Changing the bedroom and giving it a really nice fresh look can really help you to prep for the cooler weather. The items listed below are several things that many people tend to forget when it is time for the winter changeover.
Pack away summer linen
During the summer months many choose to bring out lighter and brighter sheet sets. Now is the time to fold away all of the lighter brighter summer sheets and pack them up. You will want to get your deeper colors out, such as your browns, greens and deep purples. When storing the summer linens away, I have found that large storage bins work well to pack away the summer items and store them. Plastic storage bins are affordable and they keep the water and bugs out of the bins.
Clean the blinds and change the curtains
When you are getting your winter curtains and drapes out you will want to clean the windows inside and out in the bedroom. You should also take the blinds down and give them a good cleaning. Winter curtains are usually a lot heavier and can help keep the cold air out. Heavier drapes are great for the bedroom since they can help with heating costs during the winter season.
Hunt under the bed
Many of us are guilty of having items hidden away under the bed. They tend to gather dust and get forgotten during the majority of the year. This would be a great time to clean under the bed and get all of the items out from under there. You can sweep, under the beds and mop and then you will have more room to store some of the summer items that you will no longer be using in your home.
Dust your bed
Many people do not even think that you should dust your bed, but you really should. You would be amazed at how much dust can gather on your headboard, and footboard, as well as on your box spring. A good dusting is really best done when you are changing over from the summer season over to the Fall/Winter season.
