Many adults have had to tighten up their budgets a lot over the past few years. This includes cutting back on their shopping budget. When it comes to kids you really have no choice but to buy them new clothes each season, due to the fact that they usually grow out of them. For adults however, the only thing that ends up changing is our weight. Since this is manageable we can really work at keeping the same winter clothes. If you want a new look you can very easily give your old winter clothing a brand new look by just trying a few simple techniques. Below you will find some of those suggestions.
To give a shirt a very different look, or even a jacket you can cut it a bit, and turn it into something completely different. For example if you have a shirt that happens to hang past your waistline, you can trim it up until it reaches your waist. Be sure to pin the clothing item first so that it is at the right length that you would like. Once you have done that, you can easily hand sew the edges. I would recommend that you use a sewing machine for this part. A sewing machine will make it a lot easier, and quicker to finish, but if you don’t have one you can still sew it by hand.
Patch up holes
As clothes get older, they begin to get a little worn out. When this happens you may suddenly begin to see holes in your clothing. When this happens you can easily find the same type of fabric at your local arts, and craft store. When you have found the matching material you can easily patch up any holes that you have found. This will give your clothing a fresh clean, and new look.
Add or take away
One thing that you can easily do is add a few buttons to a shirt, or even take a few away. Try being creative and coming up with a new way to really give a piece of clothing a different look. If the zipper is broken for example this does not mean that you have to throw away the entire outfit. Instead you can just put a new zipper on. Even if you are not that good at sewing, it is not as difficult as you may think. You can easily find instructions online and the materials at your local arts and craft store.
Fix the color
Over time the colors will end up fading away. A simple dye job in the natural color of the garment will make it look brand new all over again. I would recommend that you take the time to read through the direction for the dye very carefully. The one thing you don’t want to do is damage any of your other clothing or even your washing machines.
