I hate pulling clothes out of my drawers and have them smelling like wood polish and that “drawer” smell. Same goes for that musty smell getting closet smell that plagues my seasonal clothing and shoes. Learn quick ways to perk up your clothing so they always smell sweet like they just came out of the dryer.
A quick way to keep your clothes fresh is to keep dryer sheets handy, and vacuum often in your bedroom. Vacuuming keeps the dirt that lingers in your closet and on your floor from soaking into your clothing that doesn’t get constant wear. Adding an essential oil-enriched baking soda regimen to your vacuuming in your bedroom once a month helps keep a fresh smell to your clothing and linen as well. Simply take a box of baking soda, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil (like lavender or vanilla or citrus) and shake out a small amount of baking soda on your carpeting before vacuuming. Do this once a month and the scent will stay in your room and help keep your items fresh-smelling. Leave the opened box of baking soda in your closet to consistently let out aroma and bacteria-absorbing baking soda to keep your closet (and clothing and shoes) fresher longer.
The dryer sheets work by simply cutting them into eighths and placing a small section of dryer sheet in your seasonal shoes to keep them smelling great. Place dryer sheets on the top of your closet or a few in between every 10 clothing items or so (hung on hangers or tucked into sweaters) to keep a fresh aroma throughout your closet. Do this in your drawers as well to keep your drawer clothing fresh.
You can also take sweaters, coats, and other seasonal items and hang them outside to air out as the season approaches to wear them to get that settled closet or drawer smell out of them. Quickly placing them in the dryer for a few minutes with a dryer sheet gets them smelling great as well so you always have fresh-smelling clothes to wear all the time.
