Hopefully, your wedding day won’t be a Murphy’s Law day, but just in case it is, be prepared! Bridal anxiety is nothing unusual; all brides-to-be get nervous. That’s to be expected, but when it comes to the unexpected, you can be more prepared if you throw together a simple kit that contains some things you might need at the last minute, on your wedding day. Heaven forbid something happen, and you can’t fix it, and the wedding is taking place in a few minutes! That would be torture! Here’s what you need to put in the emergency kit:
An extra pair of pantyhose is a necessity. If you simply have a tiny hole, though, you can get by with a dab of clear nail polish to keep the hole from running.
A small sewing kit can really come in handy for a hem that’s coming undone, a broken strap, or any number of last-minute alterations. Include a needle, a small piece of cardboard with thread wrapped around it, a button or two, a dot of Velcro, and some safety pins. This might seem like a lot of stuff but all of it together takes up little room.
Don’t forget to include some small mints in the emergency kit. Gum is not so attractive for a bride to be chewing and you have to find a place to deposit the used gum. Really large mints aren’t ideal, either. Opt for small mints instead.
Hopefully, you’ve checked your calendar before seleting a wedding date, but in case of emergency, tuck a pad or tampon in the kit. Also, fold up some Kleenex or napkins in case you get teary-eyed or need to fix your lipstick.
Aspirin or other pain medication is a good idea for the bridal kit. A small bandaid or two isn’t a bad idea either – a paper cut or similar injury can bleed a lot. In case of a broken fingernail you might also include a tube of super glue.
Some other ideas for inclusion in the kit are a lipstick, bobby pins and even a roll-on perfume. The kits are appropriate for other occasions, too. Give such a kit to the bridesmaids as a “thank-you”, to a teen on her birthday, or to a girl going off to college. Place it all in a nice pouch or small purse and you’re ready for nearly any emergency!
