Searching for something chocolaty, sweet and spooky for Halloween? With this mud pie you are sure to get a dose of the Halloween spirit as well a satisfying dessert to entertain your guests or friends and family with. These easy to follow step by step directions are sure to be big success for this autumn month.
To begin, you will first have to gather all of your ingredients. This includes a frozen graham cracker crust which can be found in any grocery store in the frozen foods section, two boxes of instant chocolate pudding mix, Oreo cookies, gummy worms, an assortment of Halloween themed marshmallows such as ghosts, or candy eye balls. If you are not partial to chocolate pudding, you can always substitute in other flavors such as vanilla and simply use green or orange food coloring to give it a festive look.
Once you have gathered all of the ingredients necessary for preparation, you can begin cooking your mud pie. Normally, frozen pie crusts simply need to be baked in the oven for the indicated time, and while the crust is baking you can begin following the steps to cook your instant pudding mix. Keep in mind that once the pudding mix is cooked, set it aside in a bowl to cool in the fridge. Once your pie crust is cooled, as well as your pudding mix, you can begin to distribute the pudding from the cooling bowl into the pie crust bowl. This is where you can let your imagination take over as you move on to decorating your mud pie.
First, take the gummy worms and stick them into the chocolate pudding so that half of the worm is on top of the pudding and the other half is below the pudding. This will help it to resemble what real worms look like coming out of the soil. Then, you can begin to scatter your marshmallow ghosts (or other Halloween themed marshmallows you chose) around your mud pie. The ghost can be positioned to either be standing up or laying flat on their back. If you choose to keep your ghost in an upright position, then be sure to submerge enough of your ghost into the pudding so that it won’t slouch or fall over.
If you decided to add any other sort of Halloween themed candies such as eyeballs or fingers into your mud pie be sure to do that before crumbling your Oreo cookies over the pudding. The cookies will help your mud pie to resemble real dirt as well as taste delicious when combined with the pudding and graham cracker crust.
Keep this dessert in the refrigerator to prolong it’s freshness and add this among your Halloween desserts so that you and your friends and family can enjoy this deliciously spooky treat year after year.
