If you are looking for a fun craft idea for the Halloween season, then search no more, because with this fun and family oriented craft idea you are sure to bring the Halloween spirit into your home while creating something unique. Children will love this wonderful idea and you will have a wonderful way to get into the spirit of this season that you can cherish for many years to come, or create more than one to your liking.
To begin, you will need to gather the materials necessary to assemble your night light. First, you will need four sheets of plain white paper (computer paper will do just fine), characters to trace and then cut out (such as Halloween witches, or ghost silhouettes), and a fake candle that needs nothing more to turn on then the push of a button.
First, take your four sheets of white paper and cut them evenly into perfect squares. You don’t want to cut them too big, just cut off enough of the paper so that all four sheets resemble squares. Next, take your character silhouettes and place them in the center of the squares. Place one silhouette in one square however, trace a line around the character and then cut each one out. If you choose, you can cut out stars, small pumpkins and other tiny Halloween silhouettes on the four squares along with your character silhouette. Just be sure you don’t cut out too much of the page, you don’t want your four squares to be flimsy.
When each of your squares has enough characters on it to your liking, then you are going to tape them together so that they resemble a box with four walls and no bottom or top surface. Tape works wonderfully for keeping your four walls together, and you can easily tape the walls together from the inside. When each of your four walls have been taped together and they resemble a box with cut out shapes on it, you can then turn on your fake candle and place it in the center of your box, turn out the lights and be amazed at how the room of your choice is filled with Halloween spirit.
There are many ways that you can alter this craft idea to make it your own. You can use black construction paper if you’d prefer, or set the square on top of a circular moving platform so that the shapes will move around in a circle. The silhouettes you cut out don’t have to be spooky either, they can be kid friendly so that your children can enjoy this craft idea as well.
