When I use to work at a grocery store bakery, we would sometimes we would make a dirt and worm cake for customers on Halloween. Making those cakes while at work was fun.
Sometimes we added plastic trees that stood up to give the cake some depth when looking at it. If we had a few other items like the trees laying around, we would add those too.
Even with those additions, the customers loved the way the cake looked when we were done decorating it. I mention we quite a bit because most of the time someone would start decorating the dirt and worm cake and another person would have to finish. This would happen when more orders started coming in throughout the day. This would be the only way to keep up with the cake orders and sales promotion cakes.
Even though you may not want to buy all the little extras for your Dirt and Worm Cake, you can still make it look great with just the gummy worms candy.
