An easy way to make paper snowflakes is to use basket style coffee filters. They make a perfect circle when flattened out and they’re cheap so mistakes are no big deal. Buy both the large and small coffee filters for an assortment of snowflakes.
Flatten out the coffee filter and fold over. You should now have a half circle; fold over again and then fold over once more.
Use a very sharp pair of scissors to make cuts in the coffee filters. I like using Cutter Bee’s, which can be found in the scrapbooking section of craft stores. They’re very sharp and pointy making them perfect to cut out detailed designs in the snowflakes.
Snip off the pointed end of the triangle to create a star -like hole in the center of the snowflake. Next cut out the sides of the triangle in whatever shape strikes your fancy. The more you cut out, the lacier the snowflake will be. If you have a small holiday paper punch, you can also use that to cut out the snowflake.
Gently unfold the triangle and hang your snowflake. Handle them carefully because the coffee filters are fragile and will tear easily.
