Thanksgiving is just that. It is a day to appreciate and be thankful for the many blessings we have. A great way, to share those blessings is with a thankful note box. This article will explain how to make a thankful note box and how to use it for your holiday festivities.
Make Your Thankful Note Box
The size of the box is very important. It has to be large enough to handle all the notes and be small enough to handle easily. Small families can use a shoe box. Larger families might need something larger. You will need a box, colored construction paper, scissors, tape, glue, decals or magazine cut out images. Images for your box would be things like praying hands, Indian corn, apples, pumpkins, leaves, pets, people, military and anything a person might be thankful for.
Try to use construction paper that has a Fall season color to it. Wrap your box. Cut a slit in the top of the box. This is where the notes slide in. On top of the box, write the term “Thankful Notes.” Next, glue your images to the top and sides of the box. Place your finished project where it can be seen by all. Add blank note papers and pencils close by.
Thankful Note Box Use
Have individuals write down what they are thankful for this holiday season. They do not sign their name to it. Be sure they fold it and not tell anyone what they wrote. They fold it twice and place it in the box. At a selected time, the notes are taken out one by one and read. Family members and guests have to guess, who wrote the note. The notes are then placed in a small pile on the kitchen table. For the meal prayer, they may or may not be included.
If you have a fireplace, have everyone sit in the room or stand near it. As each note is read and the writer is revealed, the note is then placed into the fire place. The burning of the notes, one at a time, is a symbol of a blessing be appreciated by one and all.
The use, of a thankful note box, can accomplish many purposes.
1. Everyone feels a part of the holiday festivity.
2. The spirit of the holiday of Thanksgiving is captured.
3. It slows down the holiday hustle and bustle.
4. It helps to strengthen the religious tone of the day.
5. It brings the family closer together.
A thankful note box is a great way, to bring a stronger appreciation for the Thanksgiving holiday.
